UNO PIZZERIA & GRILL - BANGOR, ME

CRAFT PIZZA & CRAFT BEER
WALK INTO A BAR.

The rest is history.

Nothing goes better together than pizza and beer. Beer is the ying to pizza's yang. And with a few choice ingredients in common, it's no wonder. Choosing the right brew for your pie can help bring out the flavor, dial up the bold or bitter flavors, or offset the heat in a spicy pie. So we put our chefs & bartenders in the same room to pair our new pizzas with the perfect craft beer. Here's what they had to say.

American Lager

American Lager

American Lagers are pale and golden, with a crisp clean malt flavor, and mild hops taste. Typically brewed with corn or rice, they pair well with the Chicago Original Cheese & Tomato Deep Dish Pizza.

Amber Lager

Amber Lager

Amber Lagers can be from golden to dark in color. They have a sweet malt and nutty aroma, and generally a less bitter flavor. These full body brews pair well with our Meat Market Deep Dish Pizza.

American Pale Ale

American Pale Ale

American Pale Ale is made with predominantly pale malt that results in a light color and mild hops flavor. The crisp flavor can help offset the heat in our Spicy Hawaiian Chicago Thin Crust Pizza.

Pilsner

Pilsner

Pilsner is a type of pale lager. They generally have a light straw to golden color, with a lighter flavor than most other beer styles. Try a pilsner with a stronger flavor pizza such as the BBQ & Bacon Chicago Thin Crust Pizza.

India Pale Ale

India Pale Ale

India Pale Ale (IPA) is a style of pale ale developed in England for export to India. They have bold flavors with a strong hoppy bitterness. They're a great complement to the caramelized onions in our Pesto Chicken & Caramelized Onion Chicago Thin Crust.

Porter

Porter & Stout

Porters & Stouts are dark ales made using roasted malt or roasted barley and are usually less bitter than other beers. Stouts are typically the strongest Porters. These pair well with our River North Sausage Deep Dish Pizza.

- BEER 101 -

The basic ingredients of beer are water; a starch source, such as malted barley, able to be converted to sugar then fermented; a brewer's yeast to produce the fermentation; and a flavoring such as hops. Beer is assessed by bitterness, by strength and by color. The perceived bitterness is measured by the International Bitterness Units scale (IBU). Hops is the sole major contributor to a beer's biterness. Beer ranges from less than 3% alcohol by volume (ABV) to around 14% ABV, though this strength can be increased to around 20%. Beer color is determined by the malt. The most common color is a pale amber produced from using pale malts. Dark beers are usually brewed from a pale malt or lager malt base with a small proportion of darker malt added to achieve the desired shade. Very dark beers, such as stout, use dark or patent malts that have been roasted longer.

At Uno Pizzeria & Grill, Bangor ME, we draw our identity and inspiration from the artisan heritage of the original Pizzeria Uno in Chicago. We still make our deep dish pizza dough fresh every morning. Today, we are as passionate about craft beer as we are our pizza.
